The field survey has just been completed . The experience was pretty much interesting as we went through the contemporary methods of field survey
- levelling ( 8 days )
- traverse ( 8 days )
- triangulation ( 8 days )
- chain and compass ( 1 day )
Our site was panchkhal , which is approximately half an hour drive from dhulikhel and at an altitude of 853m.
The weather there was pretty warm , hotter than that of dhulikhel and the environmental parameters seemed as if you were somewhere in terai , with some distinct features such as
trees of banana , papaya , peepal etc compared to other hilly areas. Talking about vegetation the area has a dense vegetation of potato ruling almost 90% .
We did levelling of two different routes . The second route seemed a bit difficult ( yet interesting ) due to its steepness and required more instrument set-ups and the time consumption for levelling up the instrument also accounted was significant . We established the temporary BMs and it was over .
Traverse was pretty challenging because it needed good reckee and we had to check for stations intervisibility and they were far apart for eyes to predict until you cupped ur fingers over ur brows( just to say ) . It was a closed loop traverse and we established 10 stations and started from the station 1.
I will be posting the field pics and the traverse graphs and cross section charts once I have made them ready .
